It's not about getting down fast, it's about getting up/there fast when your skins are on ski bases or your skis are on your back.  While you're humming from point a to b, being comfortable allows you to perform better and for a more extended amount of time.  It's simple design cuts down on excess weight but has enough mass to still perform when terrain gets rougher on the descent.  If you have an alpine ski boot, the Scarpa F1 is a great compliment and a possible boot answer to your uphill set up.  It's not a boot that does it all, it's a boot that goes up really well and that won't be a dissappointment on the descent if you have a pair of lightweight skis.

Sizing: Scarpa does their sizing a bit differently 26.5 and 27 are the same.  While with other brands 26 and 26.5 are the same, get it? Cool, good.
