98MM NEVER FELT SO RIGHT.

If it's been a while since you upgraded your race boots, you'll be pleasantly surprised at how these fit for being a 98mm last.  With a more generous instep than most boots this narrow you'll have an easier time putting them on and the top of your foot won't get crushed when you flex the boot forward.  The ability to change the shape of the shell to accomodate ankles, bunions or just a wider foot is what has made Salomon boots succesful.  Having the custom shell in a 130 flex boot for under 700 bucks is something your feet and finanacial advisor will thank you for. 

If you thought the heel hold on the Tecnica Mach 130 LV was a little too snug you'll like the way the X Max 130 feels.

Forward Flex / Boot Fit

The Salomon X Max 130 is a more friendly 130 flex than most.  Much of this has to do with being a bi-injected shell as opposed to a plug boot like the Lange RS or Head Raptor.  The fit is what sets the X-Max apart from other 130 flex 98mm lasted ski boots.  With Salomon's custom shell the boot can expand 6mm when heat is applied whereever the color is yellow (yep go ahead and take a look at the image above again).
