Daft Punk didn't talk about weight in their 2001 club hit, but the S/Max 130 is lighter than it's predecessor.  Salomon thinned out the shell where they could afford to, the forefoot which doesn't cut down on performance but does help with comfort.  Since there is a little less resistance against your feet they'll be a bit more comfortable especially when the boots are cold. Unlike many low volume boots the S/Max shell and liner don't crush your heel and Achilles, it's possible to be locked in and be comfortable, crazy right?  The S/Max 130 has a smooth progressive flex, with no shin bite or excessive pressure on the top of the foot.  There is a bit more room on top of the foot in S/Max than the XMax 130 making it a bit easier to take on and off too, not just good for people that need a bit more forgiveness on top of the foot. Fit and performance is a solid improvement, the boot also looks sick.
