GET DOWN WITHOUT ALL THE DOWN

This year the Stormbound Jacket from Outdoor Research made the switch from all-natural down to a synthetic insulation blend. Don’t worry, though, they made sure that this jacket stays as warm as ever. Where in years past the Stormbound was insulated with 650 Fill Down, it’s now got a PrimaLoft Gold Down Blend, which combines down with a synthetic insulator that is meant to mimic….you guessed it, 650 Fill Down! With this new synthetic blend providing the same warmth and feel, the jacket can offer a much higher water resistance than ever before, because the synthetic stuff can resist moisture much better than all-natural down can. Now you’ll still be plenty warm on even the coldest New England days, but you also don’t ned to worry about what form of precipitation Mother Nature is going to throw at you. Sometimes, it’s good to get down without all the down.

Style

This is Pertex+ 2Layer waterproof and breathable jacket with insulation. 

Performance Level

Pertex Shield+ - 2-Layer construction provides great waterproofing while keeping the fabric soft and reducing the crunch and stiffness that sometimes comes with 3-layer membranes. 

Insulation

PrimaLoft Gold Down Blend - This is a synthetic insulator made as a blend of PrimaLoft Gold synthetic insulation with natural down. This mimics the warming qualities of all-natural down, but with far more water resistance. PrimaLoft Gold Down Blend is the equivalent to 650 fill down.

Pockets

Two Napoleon Pockets; one with pass through access and one with media port.  Two zippered hand pockets and a lift ticket pocket on the sleeve.

Venting

Chest to Hip Zippered Vent – The vent starts on the chest and works its way to the hip you get maximum ventilation.

Additional Awesomeness

Internal Balaclava - You can find a bonus balaclava tucked into the back pocket for protection on the worst weather days.
