You read that right, Mammut made a jacket with down - still the warmest and lightest insulator there is - and wrapped it in a Gore-Tex shell, guaranteeing it to be fully waterproof and breathable. The one knock on down is that it loses many of its best qualities when exposed to water, but with Gore-Tex’s guarantee to keep you dry you can be sure that you’re protected. If you think that combining essentially the best insulation system with the best waterproof fabric would make a pretty sweet jacket, just also consider that Mammut built this thing with seven pockets, a removable hood, an elastic powder skirt, and waterproof YKK zippers. Yeah, they didn’t really leave anything out.
