When you get close to 1500 grams you are in a super light ski boot, the Ranger Free 120 is for skiers that need to drive some well built skis.  While weight the of your set up is important and you want to keep it light, sacrificing downhill performance is NOT an option -- that's who Fischer built this boot for.  When Fischer announced the new Ranger Free series last year at OR the caption read 'What versatility looks like' we have to agree, this is the best blend of downhill and uphill performance available.  The Ranger Free 120's walk mode is in a more intuitive position than other alpine hike boots, on the top buckle similar to a Dynafit boot -- if you're engaging the walk mode you're releasing tension on that buckle anyway.  If you're like us and have a variety of skis, even at the 120 flex will have no problem turning wide waisted  (110 mm +) super stiff skis, something that is harder for lightweight boots with walk modes.  

TLDR: This super lightweight boot, crushes it on the down and won't gas you out on the way up.

How's the Fit: The Ranger 120 Free runs big for it's size, it also feels wider than most 99 mm lasted ski boots. You'll notice there is more room on top of the foot due to the elliptical shell design, got a higher instep -- Fischer's got you.  If there was ever an Alpine-Hike boot you could get away with a smaller size it's this one.
