Dynafit Baltoro Skis 2016

TWO SETUPS ARE BETTER THAN ONE

So you are thinking about acquiring an alpine touring setup. If you have been doing your research, there is no doubt that weight on the uphill and performance on the downhill are two things that you have considered strongly. If you are leaning toward a lightweight tech boot and are looking for a frameless binding, the Dynafit Baltoro might just be the perfect addition to your kit. Upon first inspection, you might think the Baltoro is too light for any solid downhill turns. At just 1490 grams in the 176cm length, there is no doubt that the Baltoro does feel pretty light. However, thanks to a full side-wall construction you will be pleasantly surprised at how stable you feel when arcing high speed turns. In the tip of the ski you will find scoop rocker that helps you plow through any kind of loose snow, from champaign powder to heavy and wet corn. The tips are also milled out to create what Dynafit calls the flex tip. The 3D construction of the flex tip increases dampening and makes it the lightest part of the ski. The Baltoro features a dual radius side cut that combines a long front radius with a short one in the tail. This combination keeps the Baltoro super stable at speed, effortless in long turns, and still easy to control in narrow trees.

Construction

Full Sidewall - The Baltoro has impact resistant ABS sidewalls that run along the entire length of the ski. The sidewall construction increases torsional rigidity and edge grip on hard pack.

Core

Ash-Poplar Ride-Core - The Baltoro combines light and strong by fusing ash and poplar into this core. You get the snappiness of the ash to handle any choppy terrain, but you also get the lightness of the poplar to make your uphill slogs a breeze.

Shape

Tip & Tail Rocker - With scoop rocker in the tip and just a little rocker in the tail, this ski becomes incredibly nimble in tight places. The tapered tip allow this ski to float remarkably well in loose snow.

Binding

The Dynafit Baltoro does not come with a binding. We recommend you use a binding that will accommodate your skiing needs (backcountry, touring, all-mountain, freestyle, ect.) Be sure the brake width and release settings will work for your particular activity. Questions about what’s best for you, contact an expert at TheSkiMonster.com.
