Burton pulled out all the stops with this one, and the result is seriously one of the most technical mid-layer pieces we've seen. It makes a lot of sense to have a down mid-layer, it'll be really warm and really light so it's an easy insulating piece to throw on underneath your shell, that alone makes jackets like this a must-have. With this specific one, however, you get a lot if really awesome features you normally don't see in comparable jackets. First off you get a slim fit and full stretch fabrics, so the jacket's really easy to move in, comfortable to wear, and is easily layered underneath an outer shell. There are even pit zip vents as well so in theory if you were skinning up on a clear day and didn't need as much warmth you could use this as your outer layer and keep your shell in your pack for the descent.
