END OF SEASON SALE, ALL 2024 GEAR ON SALE NOW
The price of the Atomic Backland FR 102, might make you want to skip over it and head to the next price point up – which makes sense, most 500 dollar skis don’t rip, welp this one does. Besides waist width the only technology the FR 102 doesn’t have that it’s wider brothers do is HRZN tech – which increases surface area in the tip. The guts of the Backland FR 102 is the same as the FR 117 and FR 109. This nimble 102 mm waist is great for skiers that want to spend most of their time off piste, but do want a fair amount of grip for the groomer days that the early season has plenty of. The Backland FR 102 has the most amount of camber in the line up, which means the better grip on the front or in variable snow. If you’re going to one pair of skis, and like to spend time the trees the FR 102 is solid option.
Carbon Backbone 2.0 – A narrow strip of carbon runs from tip to tail for increased stability and power.
Light Woodcore – Poplar, it’s light and lively.
Powder Rocker - (20/70/10) More rocker in the tip than tail with camber underfoot for a traditional directional feel.
Step down sidewall 2.0, enough grip, with minimal weight added.
The Atomic Backland FR 109 does not come with a binding. We recommend you use a binding that will accommodate your skiing needs (backcountry, touring, freeride etc.). Be sure the brake width and release settings will work for your particular activity. Questions about what's best for you, contact an expert at TheSkiMonster.com.
