Test Locations: Loon NH, Sugarloaf ME, Snowbird UT

The first time out on the Tracer 108 was at Sugarloaf for a pretty epic storm, about 2 feet of New England Fresh.  Granted on a pow day, pretty much everything skis well, or can’t ski badly is probably a better way to put it; but the Tracer 108 made the day a lot more fun, suprisingly.  The reason I say ‘surprisingly’ is looking at the shape of the ski you expect a lot of front side performance, when ever you have more frontside performance you lose soft snow performance – it’s a give and take.  The Tracer 108 skied super well in pow, and didn’t get bossed around when the trails started getting choppy, they had a nice bounce to them like great powder skis do.

The next time we took the skis out was at Loon, for some groomer laps.  While Loon isn’t very steep there are some opportunities to push skis pretty hard and fast, the Tracer 108’s held up well, not as much grip as the Tracer 98 but that’s expected for a narrower waisted ski.  Big GS turns is what they like to do, tip em and rip em on your way to find more pow.
