It's not much different from the predecessor which is a good thing. It's a bit more precise and powerful in a turn, has a touch more energy, while also being a hair easier in the turn initiation department. Easier turn initiation just widens the range of skiers who can ski the Montero effectively -- again, a good thing. The Stockli Montero AR combines incredible on-piste performance in a wider platform than some other skis in this category. These skis are the definition of turn em' and burn em', then turn em' again. At 84mm wide it handles chopped-up crud, or heavy wet snow well, but these skis are built to crush hard-pack and groomers. Compared to previous generations of this ski our testing team finds this one to be a bit more forgiving. A more forgiving ski can be pushed harder by aggressive skiers with less consequences while also allowing less experienced skiers to tap into the performance. It is a little easier to pivot this ski or release the tails than the slightly more narrow Montero AX, allowing it to feel slightly more accessible at lower speeds or in some softer snow, but don't let that fool you. The Montero AR is still a higher performing, hard-pack-focused, ripping time. It's powerful, it's confident, it never chatters and it chews up groomers and spits them out all season long. This is a true groomer-slaying machine. The new version consists of an updated titanal layout and a completely new wood core, resulting in a ski that's more powerful tip to tail, and less rigid torsionally. What this means is the new ski is both more confident and more manuverable. Double Whammy! The Black Pearl is just an unbelievable ski. Stable without being demanding, nimble without being nervous, easy without feeling that it lacks anything. This ski has always checked all of those boxes, but the new version checks them EVEN HARDER. From expert testers to intermediate testers everyone loves the Black Pearl 88. A huge reason it's loved by everyone is because it makes you a better skier, no matter your level. It feels easier to pivot, turn initiation basically just happens, and then it provides confidence and balance through the turn. It handles ice really well, is down for a trip through the woods if that's what you're in the mood for, and will keep your legs happy because they do not take a lot of work to turn. Before I finish this love letter to the Black Pearl let me be clear, it's a groomer-focused ski, but it's an incredible ski. It's just one of those skis anyone can get on and have a great day. The Anomaly 94 is more maneuverable off-piste or in softer snow compared to the narrower Anomaly 88 or 84 while still offering a ton of grip and stability in a turn. The Anomaly has a strong camber profile underfoot to allow the ski to bite into firm terrain while also having a rocker profile that is plenty generous for quick short turns off-piste or on steep terrain. Compared to the Blizzard Rustler 9, the Anomaly 94 is more geared for hard-charging and lapping groomers but it is no slouch off-trail either, it's just a burlier more directional ski than the Rustler 9. Blizzard has done a great job building a ski that can be skied hard but isn't as hard to ski as the predecessors and they've made it more \"all-mountain\" capable than the skis that came before it. The Anomaly 94 is one of the more powerful options in its category but isn't as cumbersome or laborious as the Volkl Mantra M7. There are quite a few great women's specific skis on the market this season, the Ripstick 94 W has some really good competition, but Elan has done an awesome job cementing the Ripstick Black into the top tested skis of the season. If you're looking for a high-performance ski that isn't overbearing or difficult to ski this should be on your radar. An insane power-to-weight ratio continues to surprise us season after season when testing these skis. We're also impressed with how many different skier types with different abilities work on a Ripstick 94 W Black. It carves like a more narrow ski, has power like a much burlier ski, and is easy to balance for all skiers. The new ski is stronger, grips better, and offers a more stable feel, all without losing any of the low-end accessibility or maneuverability skiers have come to love from the Ripstick series. A new rocker profile can be attributed to improving maneuverability and turn initiation while a stronger core, new tip\/tail shape, and new carbon technology bring added stability and grip to the ski. Groomers are a blast and the ski feels limitless and gripped. Trips through tight technical trees are a breeze and the Ripstick offers a ton of snap and energy. Icier ski days are no issue and the ski offers good damping to keep you confident even when conditions are less desirable. The Elan Ripstick 96 Black will live on almost every single one of our team's \"Top Tested\" list again this season. You'd think we'd all get bored of it, right? Wrong... the ski is just too damn good. Regardless of ability level or how aggressively or casually the Ripstick is skied it always performs beyond expectations. So if the soft snow is tough to find, or you want to rip groomers while you wait for conditions to soften up a bit the 102 Black can handle it. However, this ski comes to life in technical terrain, wide open bowls with fresh snow, or bombing down tree runs. Similar to the more narrow 96 Black the 102 Black is not a difficult ski to handle for less experienced skiers and it can be skied aggressively by more experienced skiers who like to get after it. The generous rocker profile makes turn initiation smooth and allows for easy pivoting through tighter terrain. Compared to the older Ripstick 106 the more narrow 102 is less cumbersome and feels more stable through chopped up terrain or crud. This is a new ski in Elan's Ripstick collection and a welcome addition to the family. It is more of a \"freeride\" ski compared to the more narrow Ripsticks but it is no slouch when it comes to lapping groomers. That's why the Ripstick has become and remains a favorite. It's a ski that can be pushed hard and takes less work. It's easier to release the tails and initiate a turn on than most of the category, and now more than ever can more than hang when it's being skied harder. One word that comes to mind with the Ripstick is effortless, it feels effortless in and out of a turn and pivoting through more technical situations. Another word is compliant, the ski responds instantaneously to whatever you want it to do predictably. Soft in the shovels with just enough beef underfoot, the Ranger 102 achieves an impressive balance of being a playful ski that doesn't get nervous at high speeds. The 2026 QST 94 is the strongest, most directional offering of the new QST series. It has surprisingly good performance on trail and doesn't feel out of place on groomers, making it a more East Coast or hardpack-friendly option compared to the QST 92 from previous seasons. The old QST lacked in power and stability; the new QST 94 does not. It's a ski that has some real top-end performance and potential to be skied aggressively. Off-trail or in softer snow, the QST 94 still offers the playfulness and maneuverability you'd expect from a freeride-inspired ski. It pivots on a dime when you need it to, feels alive and nimble at lower speeds in technical terrain, and is forgiving for less experienced skiers. If you liked the previous version of the QST, you won't feel like this is a departure from what you're used to - it's just a more capable ski when the snow pack is firm or chopped up. Salomon achieved this improvement by altering the shape, side cut, and where the added materials are placed in the ski. Having tested these across a wide variety of terrain and conditions during the past season, we are excited to finally have a more narrow QST option that is skiable even when the snow isn't awesome and terrain is variable. The old QST 92 was good when the snow was softer, but the new QST 94 is a major improvement across the board.
