What this means is the new ski is both more confident and more manuverable. Double Whammy! The Black Pearl is just an unbelievable ski. Stable without being demanding, nimble without being nervous, easy without feeling that it lacks anything. This ski has always checked all of those boxes, but the new version checks them EVEN HARDER. From expert testers to intermediate testers everyone loves the Black Pearl 88. A huge reason it's loved by everyone is because it makes you a better skier, no matter your level. It feels easier to pivot, turn initiation basically just happens, and then it provides confidence and balance through the turn. It handles ice really well, is down for a trip through the woods if that's what you're in the mood for, and will keep your legs happy because they do not take a lot of work to turn. Before I finish this love letter to the Black Pearl let me be clear, it's a groomer-focused ski, but it's an incredible ski. It's just one of those skis anyone can get on and have a great day. The Anomaly has a strong camber profile underfoot to allow the ski to bite into firm terrain while also having a rocker profile that is plenty generous for quick short turns off-piste or on steep terrain. Compared to the Blizzard Rustler 9, the Anomaly 94 is more geared for hard-charging and lapping groomers but it is no slouch off-trail either, it's just a burlier more directional ski than the Rustler 9. Blizzard has done a great job building a ski that can be skied hard but isn't as hard to ski as the predecessors and they've made it more \"all-mountain\" capable than the skis that came before it. The Anomaly 94 is one of the more powerful options in its category but isn't as cumbersome or laborious as the Volkl Mantra M7. If you're looking for a high-performance ski that isn't overbearing or difficult to ski this should be on your radar. An insane power-to-weight ratio continues to surprise us season after season when testing these skis. We're also impressed with how many different skier types with different abilities work on a Ripstick 94 W Black. It carves like a more narrow ski, has power like a much burlier ski, and is easy to balance for all skiers. A new rocker profile can be attributed to improving maneuverability and turn initiation while a stronger core, new tip\/tail shape, and new carbon technology bring added stability and grip to the ski. Groomers are a blast and the ski feels limitless and gripped. Trips through tight technical trees are a breeze and the Ripstick offers a ton of snap and energy. Icier ski days are no issue and the ski offers good damping to keep you confident even when conditions are less desirable. The Elan Ripstick 96 Black will live on almost every single one of our team's \"Top Tested\" list again this season. You'd think we'd all get bored of it, right? Wrong... the ski is just too damn good. Regardless of ability level or how aggressively or casually the Ripstick is skied it always performs beyond expectations. Similar to the more narrow 96 Black the 102 Black is not a difficult ski to handle for less experienced skiers and it can be skied aggressively by more experienced skiers who like to get after it. The generous rocker profile makes turn initiation smooth and allows for easy pivoting through tighter terrain. Compared to the older Ripstick 106 the more narrow 102 is less cumbersome and feels more stable through chopped up terrain or crud. This is a new ski in Elan's Ripstick collection and a welcome addition to the family. It is more of a \"freeride\" ski compared to the more narrow Ripsticks but it is no slouch when it comes to lapping groomers.
