It's quick edge to edge and feels precise in a turn, providing confidence on icier terrain or at higher speeds. While the Arcade loves to rip groomers, it's just versatile enough to handle some variety in snowpack. Compared to previous versions of the ski the new Ripstick 94 Black is more precise, more gripped, and less easily knocked around in variable terrain or snow types. Who would've thought Elan could continue to improve on a nearly perfect ski? On groomers, the 94 W Black feels solid underfoot and carries good power and energy from turn to turn. In tight technical terrain, you'll be thankful for the tapered tail shape and lightweight construction that allows the ski to feel agile and nimble. There are quite a few great women's specific skis on the market this season, the Ripstick 94 W has some really good competition, but Elan has done an awesome job cementing the Ripstick Black into the top tested skis of the season. If you're looking for a high-performance ski that isn't overbearing or difficult to ski this should be on your radar. An insane power-to-weight ratio continues to surprise us season after season when testing these skis. We're also impressed with how many different skier types with different abilities work on a Ripstick 94 W Black. The Ripstick 96 Black Edition is our top-tested ski -- has been for a while. The 102 Black Edition offers to open up more adventurous terrain and is better suited for skiers who spend time in softer, deeper snow or spend more time off trail. The 102 Black Edition is strong on a groomer, arcs a serious turn for a "wider" ski, and can confidently hold an edge. So if the soft snow is tough to find, or you want to rip groomers while you wait for conditions to soften up a bit the 102 Black can handle it. However, this ski comes to life in technical terrain, wide open bowls with fresh snow, or bombing down tree runs. Similar to the more narrow 96 Black the 102 Black is not a difficult ski to handle for less experienced skiers and it can be skied aggressively by more experienced skiers who like to get after it. The generous rocker profile makes turn initiation smooth and allows for easy pivoting through tighter terrain. Compared to the older Ripstick 106 the more narrow 102 is less cumbersome and feels more stable through chopped up terrain or crud. This is a new ski in Elan's Ripstick collection and a welcome addition to the family. It is more of a "freeride" ski compared to the more narrow Ripsticks but it is no slouch when it comes to lapping groomers. Off the jump, Rangers were generally known to be stiff, burly skis designed to be driven by the hardest-charging skiers. Then in what some would call an overcorrection, the FR or freeride series, which included the beloved pink 102s, were released as playful skis designed for more freestyle-oriented skiers. No matter the Ranger, Fischer has always produced a successful and popular ski, but before their most recent overhaul, the ski was never a great fit for a huge range of skier types. That problem was solved when Fischer released the current generation of Rangers a couple of winters ago. The skis were redesigned from top to bottom to make the most versatile group of Rangers yet. For this winter, along with the rest of the family, the Ranger 102 remains unchanged from the previously mentioned upgrade. Soft in the shovels with just enough beef underfoot, the Ranger 102 achieves an impressive balance of being a playful ski that doesn't get nervous at high speeds. It skews to the more playful side, so it's more comfortable with a skier who likes to explore off-trail, pivot their skis through tight terrain, and get a little more technical with their turning. The ski's construction consists of a wood core with titanal (metal), or Shaped Ti as Fischer calls it, laid out toward the center of the ski. This design makes the ski feel very nimble toward the tip and tail, but provides a little bit more of a stout feel underfoot than you'd expect. This helps the ski engage on harder snow and stay sturdy toward the center at higher speeds. The 88 CTI successfully addresses these issues, increasing the potential use cases and widening the range of skiers it makes sense for. If you could only pick one ski from the lineup to handle the widest range of conditions, terrain, and skier types, this would probably be it. At 100 mm underfoot, it's wide enough to feel at home on powder days and soft snow, yet narrow enough to remain practical as an everyday ski in most parts of North America.

The previous QST 98 was a fun ski that developed a loyal following, but it wasn't exactly known for its top-end power. The new QST 100 changes that. It retains the easygoing, surfy feel that made the QST series popular while adding a level of stability and confidence that was missing from earlier versions. The result is a ski that can be skied much harder without sacrificing the playful personality that QST skiers have come to expect.

What stands out most about the QST 100 is how balanced it feels. It pivots easily in tight trees, bumps, and technical terrain, but when you roll it up on edge, it produces a much cleaner and more precise turn than previous generations. It feels stronger underfoot, more composed in chopped-up snow, and noticeably less nervous when speeds start climbing. Unlike some skis in this category that force you to choose between playful and powerful, the QST 100 does a remarkably good job of blending both.

For skiers coming from the older QST 98, this isn't a completely different ski. The DNA is still there. It's still easy to ski, forgiving when you're not perfectly centered, and happy to slash, smear, and play with the terrain. The difference is that now it has another gear. When conditions get rough, the snow gets heavy, or the trail opens up and you want to let them run, the QST 100 has the support and stability to keep up.

This improvement comes from a redesigned shape, updated sidecut, and a more refined construction. The full poplar wood core delivers a smooth and predictable flex pattern, while basalt stringers provide energy and responsiveness without adding unnecessary weight. Salomon's updated cork damplifier extends deeper into the tips and tails, helping absorb vibration and smooth out the ride. The ski feels quieter and more planted than previous QST models, especially in chopped-up snow and mixed conditions.

The QST 100 remains a freeride ski at heart, but it's no longer a ski that needs soft snow to shine. Whether you're skiing trees, bowls, crud, bumps, spring slush, or groomers back to the lift, it feels comfortable everywhere. That's what makes it one of the most versatile skis in the category and one of the easiest recommendations for skiers looking for a true one-ski quiver.

Salomon absolutely nailed the redesign of the QST series, delivering an impressive new lineup of skis from top to bottom. Historically, the wider QSTs have been our favorites, but that’s now up for debate thanks to how well Salomon improved the 94mm and 100mm models. That doesn’t mean we’ve stopped loving the QST 106; it just didn’t need as much work. The most notable updates come from subtle core tweaks that add strength throughout the ski. The result is a version that keeps everything we loved about the old 106, but now feels more capable. What sets it apart now is a reinforced core, which gives the ski a noticeably more powerful feel by improving snow contact and reducing chatter. It’s a welcome improvement for aggressive skiers, but also makes the ski feel less one-dimensional. It’s more composed at speed, bites into firm snow more easily, and is less dependent on soft conditions than before. Previously, the QST 106 excelled in soft snow but lacked the backbone to inspire confidence elsewhere. The Santa Ana 87 is built for skiing smooth groomers and carving nice turns but it won't feel out of place if you decide to get adventurous every now and then. Compared to previous versions of the Santa Ana, the new 87 is more forgiving and easier to balance on while also feeling a touch more powerful and energetic. Having skied these next to the previous versions, it's easy to see that Nordica has done an awesome job improving performance and widening the range of skiers the Santa Ana works for.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0604/7046/0495/files/nordica-santa-ana-87-skis-2027-the-ski-monster.png?v=1781190579
rossignol-arcade-94
Rossignol Arcade 94 Skis 2027

The Rossignol Arcade 94 rounds out the Arcade collection, which was introduced last season, and it's no slouch in the wider waisted front side focused category. In terms of width, the 94 falls right in the middle of the pack of the ARV collection and is here for a good time. It's a surfy twin-tip ski that's spring-loaded with pop and energy. With a twin shape and soft flex pattern, it's meant to be utilized for smears, butters, reverts, boosting off jumps, hitting rails, riding switch, and getting adventurous in any kind of terrain you might find. It's got the DNA of a park ski, but at 94MM, it's on the wider end of the park ski spectrum, making it less one-dimensional than other options in the category. The extra width will allow it to hang a little better in soft snow and off-trail environments. No matter where you spend your time, the ARV 94 is looking for a skier who wants to do more than "just ski." What that means is if you're someone who just wants to get up and down the mountain making some casual turns, it might not be necessary to have something so freestyle-oriented. Also, if you're someone who spends their day piping groomers and going fast all day, you will find it lacks at higher speeds and on firmer terrain. The ARV 94 is one of our favorite twin tip skis, but it's best suited for specific types of skiers. Leaned into a turn the Serpo feels limitless and confident no matter the speed or edge angle. In tight terrain, the light feel underfoot will allow you to easily pick your way through. In softer or heavier snow you'll appreciate the 93mm waist width and wider shovel the Serpo offers to help keep you on top of the snow and the Serpo is strong enough to blast through crud with confidence. Expert skiers will love this ski but it's also a ski that intermediates will appreciate. It initiates turns smoothly and with confidence and it's forgiving enough to allow skiers with less than perfect form to access the power and precision the Serpo has without feeling like the Serpo is too much ski, or difficult to control. The Serpo is accessible and predictable which are traits that skiers of all abilities generally look for and appreciate in good skis.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0604/7046/0495/files/BLACK-CROWS-SERPO-SKIS-2027-THE-SKI-MONSTER_2e8d9cd7-3331-443b-8028-fef4e9fe9e14.png?v=1781196111
black-crows-sato
Black Crows Sato Skis 2027

Black Crows adds the Sato to its already impressive lineup, slotting in as a more forgiving alternative to the Serpo—a ski that’s become a favorite among our test crew in recent years.
