A full review of Poor Boyz Production's Revolver will be coming soon but this movie is soooo good I had to give it immediate props and say that everyone needs to see this!
This movie is un-freakin' real! Each segment is amazing in a different way with great music choices to make the segment even more amazing. I don't think my goose bumps ever go down during JP Auclair's segment set to Rush's "2112 Overture." Being a big fan of Rush, this has to be one of the coolest segments I have ever seen! This movie will fill everyone's needs because it has it all, and then some. Gianormous park features. Big mountain lines where guys get more vertical in one run than some of us get in one season. Extremely clear POV shots as skiers hurl themselves literally into the unknown, sometimes. A really great perspective. (Improved technology is extremely fun for the viewers, too!) Hucking massive pillows at night! Impossible switch landings off of cliff jumps that would be difficult enough to land straight. Some rad urban segments from a variety of big-name skiers with balls way too big to mention in this pre-review. The opening of the film is pretty damn neat, too; a great idea that ties in well with the entire feel of the film. Very well done. I can't believe how well this movie has held up after watching it at least once every day since I got it earlier this week. Such a good feeling with each viewing.
The bar has been set very high with "Revolver" as far as 'big budget' ski films go and there are only two other companies that could give this movie a strong challenge...Teton Gravity Research's "Light the Wick" or Matchstick Production's "The Way I See It." These two have solid chances of being epic in their own way. I can't wait to see both because you can never go wrong with either of them.
After only seeing two of at least 10 new ski films this year, I am already blown away by the massive leap in progression from last year's films. This sport is out of control. It doesn't matter what movie you pick up at your local ski shop, you will be impressed!
