Apres Ski: Foggy Goggle - Sunday River

Posted March 30, 2012 @ 1:10pm | by Eric Gerrmann

Sunday River Foggy GoggleMother nature has been fickle this winter and her temperature antics have left most of us scratching our heads. Less than a week ago Sunday River was experiencing unseasonably warm temps. While their top-notch park crew tried to salvage enough snow for the Dumont Cup, mother nature was busy pushing the thermometer to 80 degrees. Then in a dramatic turn of events winter seemed to return to Newry, ME. No more than two days after The Dumont Cup Finals, Sunday River received up to 6 inches of fresh snow! She may have been late to the party, but mother nature showed up with a jolt of late winter excitement.

With the energy of the Dumont Cup and some early spring snowfall, this edition of Après Ski brings us to the Foggy Goggle located in the South Ridge Lodge at the Base of Sunday River. Après Ski at The Foggy Goggle has an extensive menu that is sure to satisfy everyone's appetite. I personally think the Nachos and the Maine Lobster Mac and Cheese are a must addition to the table. Foggy's Nachos are piled high with with all of the appropriate toppings. Cheese, salsa, onions, sour cream, refriend beans and chicken provide an Après nacho plate stacked so high, I guarantee you will be ordering another beer before you finish them. Lobster Mac and Cheese is a popular menu item among many slopeside restaurants, but none of them can say they do it quite like the Foggy Goggle. Their mac and cheese is combined with real MAINE lobster. It's a unique feeling when your eating Maine lobster... out of season... in Maine... Oh yea, it's called Awesomeness.

Sunday River Foggy Goggle Goggle GroggLocated on the third floor of the South Ridge lodge, the Foggy Goggle gives skiers and riders an excellent view of the slopes and a chance to work on their goggle tan. You can choose to eat outside or just grab a cocktail and take it all in. The Foggy Goggle offers signature cocktails including the famous Goggle Grogg. The Goggle Grogg is rum punch served in a 32oz bucket (as shown in picture left). Carrying the bucket around isn't the most comfortable task, so I recommend you get your Grogg and post up somewhere... until it's time to get another one. There is usually excellent live entertainment to add to your Après experience. From live bands to DJs, the Foggy Goggle has got you covered.

Offering some of the best terrain and snow conditions in the east, Sunday River makes for a fantastic ski destination. There are a variety of restaurants and bars for your party to enjoy, but the Foggy Goggle will be a destination that attracts you more than once. The location, friendly staff and first-class Après atmosphere will keep you coming back again and again. So as Sunday River would say, "Find Your Happy Place". I found mine... It's the Foggy Goggle.
